The pathway at a glance
Planned for about 10 hours per person per week, alongside Mediboard maintenance. If the team can study more, compress each phase; never skip the end-of-phase checkpoint.
Next.js shipped critical security patches in July, August and September 2026. 16.3.6 is the patched
line from Sept 22. Always run npm install next@latest on day one and check the Next.js blog
before starting.
Supported for bug fixes until Nov 2028 and security fixes until Nov 2029. Better for a hospital system than 8.1, whose support ends Jan 2027. Needs PHP 8.2+.
Run npm audit and composer audit on every project. Turn on Dependabot. A red
audit blocks the merge.
Typed patient, encounter and prescription models are reused in every later phase, including the Symfony API contracts.
Medical practice apps
Eight apps drawn from the modules the team already knows in Mediboard. Each lists the phase where it starts, so pairs can pick one up as soon as they finish that phase. Use fake patient data only, never real records.
How the team works through it
Two pairs, rotated every phase so everyone works with everyone. Aâdila reviews pull requests and runs the Friday checkpoint.
| When | What | Output |
|---|---|---|
| Monday | 15-minute kickoff: this week's topics and the video list for it | Each pair picks its tasks |
| Tue – Thu | Study 1 to 2 hours a day, then build the practice app in pairs | Small pull requests, reviewed by the other pair |
| Friday | 30-minute demo: each pair shows what works and one thing they got stuck on | Notes added to the team wiki |
| End of phase | Checkpoint: each person solves one small task alone, no pair help | Pass, or one extra week on that phase |
| Every phase | Rotate pairs (A+B / C+D, then A+C / B+D, then A+D / B+C) | Shared knowledge, no single expert |
